RLA tutorial update... plus updates in general.

For some time now, my most popular links have been to my tutorial on using the RLA image format rendered from Newtek's Lightwave 3D in a compositing program (in this case Adobe After Effects), as well as it's real world example follow up.

For some reason, the results from the combination of the latest versions of Lightwave and After Effects seems to be broken. There's a simple workaround (use the RPF Image Filter instead of the RLA Image Filter).

Currently, I'm partially through a complete overhaul of the site (including a decent gallery), but shortly thereafter, I'll be including an all new tutorial on compositing options.

A Flurry Of Posts

In the next little while, there's going to be a plethora of new posts on the site, though not any new content.

I've decided to take all the old content from static HTML to blogger-aware. As it stands, if I make a change to the site design, all those old pages have to be manually edited to match the current change, and that can be quite irritating.

Once this is done, all the old static pages will be linked to the new databased versions, and since I get some questions from time to time about them, they'll now have commenting available, which might be a good thing for sharing info.

Bah Humbug!

The past few weeks have been a server administration nightmare, with both the main server, and the backup dying horrible deaths in a very short order. This means I've been rebuilding a server from scratch, and trying to get everything back in order...

This site is going to look kinda janky for at least the next little while (ie: no logo at the top, and some other possible formatting problems), as there are more pressing concerns with the server in general...

Anyways, I hope everyone is enjoying the season...

Peace

Just a note or two...

Just a few quick notes.

Over lunch, I added a feedburner feed, which can be seen at the top of the right hand column, which should be compatible with just about every news aggregator, not that I expect too much traffic.

I also added a couple of more blogs to my link list. I've known Bill for over a decade, and after losing touch, ended up working on an indie film project with him. Todd, I met during the film shoot, and he has impeccable taste in beer, so he gets a link too. I wouldn't have known about either, if poster Robert hadn't mentioned that he got the link to mine from Bill.

B and T also have some good links on their sites.

So there ya go, another blip in the collective blogosphere circle jerk, or something like that.

Spring Cleaning

The all new dougplanet?

Nah, just some spring cleaning. I've decided to spend an hour or two unifying the look, and make updates easier. The "big eye" that used to greet newcomers has gone, though I may keep an element of that around.

There's still some work to be done, and I'll be getting to that soon. I've got a lot of images I want to get up in the gallery section.
